Spring Bookfair May 15 - 18 Schedule

A LETTER FROM THE CO-PRESIDENTS

Dear Parents,

WELCOME to the Walter C. Black School 2011-2012 school year!! We hope you enjoyed your summer and that you are looking forward to another successful year for your children!

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a very important part of the Walter C. Black community. We work hard and have fun while raising funds to provide educational programs that enrich our children’s lives. All parents/guardians of WCB students as well as all WCB staff are automatically members of the PTO.

You can help support your school by participating and assisting with our many family-oriented events. They include the Back to School Family Picnic, Movie Night, Ice Skating Party, Ice Cream Bingo, Family Dance Night, Trenton Thunder Night and the June Carnival. We also host School Pictures, Plant Sales, Book Fairs, our School Spiritwear Sale, and Kidstuff Coupon Books to support our efforts.

We provide grade level Cultural Events, Field Trips, Classroom Gifts, a Holiday Store, and School Gifts. We support our teachers and staff with Room Parents, Teacher Gift Cards, a Welcome Back Breakfast, and a Staff Appreciation Celebration. Our major fundraiser will start on the first day of school. These are all successful through your support of the PTO.

You can participate and help us make 2011-2012 a great year! Take the time to read the packet and decide where you can best help out. Ask friends or fellow parents to volunteer with you! Make it easy; make it fun by doing it together. Also remember that your volunteer status will only be for the current school year if you choose. We will need as many volunteers as possible, and are flexible enough to work around your schedule. Any amount of time you are able to give will be greatly appreciated.

Dolphin Donations

   This year the WCB PTO would like to offer something new.  We are calling this program  “Dolphin Donations”.  The PTO realizes that not everyone needs or finds something to purchase in our Fall Fundraiser Packet.  Here is another way to support your child’s school.  Simply write a check to the WCB PTO.

  These funds as well as all the fundraiser monies go to expenditures that are not covered by the school budget but are necessary and beneficial to all of our children.  These would include such things as. 

1. Subsidizing student field trips
2. Student white boards for the classrooms
3. Author and cultural visits
4. Gift cards for the teachers for supplies for each class.
5. Park benches on the play ground
6. Playground equipment

And much, much more.

 As all the children at the Walter C. Black School benefit from these educationally enriched programs, our goal is to have all of our WCB families participate in some form of fundraising.  One way to accomplish this is by writing a one time tax deductible check to the WCB PTO.  Please be a generous as your family budget allows.
